I dived into the world of business at 18 years old excited about getting stuck in. I began in sales roles for brands including PepsiCo, Unilever and GHD. I then moved into headhunting as a recruitment consultant for the second largest human resource provider in the world.
After a few years, I was no longer immersed in the role - I got bored. I wasn’t being challenged enough or developing at the right speed. I had always been interested in medicine and psychology so I moved into the pharmaceutical industry. This was a great learning curve and I quickly moved from a sales role into management, which I LOVED! I was put onto a fast track ILM Management and Leadership course and my brain felt alive. My interest in people and their behaviour continued to engage and excite me.
My role developed; managing more people, more teams, and was soon training others to manage authentically. My frustration started to kick in! I could see so many ways the organisations I worked for limited productivity and motivation of their people. I wanted to understand more about the science behind not only the people, but the organisations.
I began to study! A lot! Alongside my leadership role, I completed a BSc. in Psychology, I went on to specialise with a MSc. in Occupational Psychology and then went on to complete my training to become a Chartered Occupational Psychologist (another 3 years). 8 years later………..Phew……I now had a good deal of tools and knowledge to make positive change happen for individuals and organisations and I was raring to go.
Research interests: Leadership, Selection and Assessment, Neurodiversity, Coaching, Managing Change, Motivation, Training, Well-being at work.
